Buffed to Perfection

buffyMoisturizing alone can do only so much for one's skin in the depths of winter blizzards.  As amazing as our favorite body moisturizer is, we still need to give our skin a good scrubbing a couple of times a week to let our lotion do its magic.

Enter Buffy, an amazing body butter from Lush.  Unlike many exfoliants, the Buffy doesn't just scrub, it moisturizes too, leaving the skin incredibly soft and smooth.  The bar is made with cocoa and shea butters and packs a clean, light scent that makes for a sublime shower experience.

Lush, a U.K. company, makes handmade hair and skincare products out of only fresh, organic ingredients and never tests on animals.  If you never been in (or walked by) a Lush store, be forewarned; the scent is extremely intense and may cause headaches.  But a Lush store is an experience in itself.  While so many skincare companies focus on fancy packaging and impressive labels, Lush is on the other side of the spectrum.  The store is littered with huge chunks of soaps and countless bins of chalky bath bombs that look like giant gumballs.  Products are weighed on scales and wrapped like lunch meat.  It's fun.

A tip for newbies: the Buffy can be pretty scratchy, so scrub gently.  A little bit goes a long way.  When you get out of the shower, pat dry with a towel (don't rub). People with normal to only slightly dry skin may find that they don't need to moisturize after.  For those with super dry skin, mark my words: if you scrub with the Buffy and moisturize with the Kiehl's Creme de Corps after, your skin will have never felt softer.
