Perfect Oxford

IMG_1108HCG has recently discovered a gem at Gap: this ridiculously soft, relaxed oxford shirt. I bought the blue version during the Gap friends and family winter sale (40% off) and promptly wore it at least seven times in the following month. I loved it so much, I quickly scurried back to Gap and paid full price for the pink color (though that hasn't made its public debut yet). In addition to blue, pink and standard white, this oxford comes in a rainbow of other spring shades (or just orange and yellow). The styling potential for this bad boy is endless! I've worn this oxford shirt to work tucked into a navy skirt with navy tights, lots of gold accessories and gold sequined flats and on the weekend with jeans and boots layered under a blazer. A few Sundays ago I wore it solo with jeans (pictured here) and threw on my favorite but highly flammable H&M faux fur vest. Yes, I did set this vest on fire once while cooking. No, I didn't think it was strange to wear a huge faux fur vest near open flames and boiling water. I was cold.

Here's a close up of that look via my Instagram (I know, I'm obsessed. Who isn't?). This Zara sequined clutch is also a closet staple. fursequins A note on sizing: I wanted a relaxed fit, so I purchased this shirt in a small. It's tailored enough to look put together but chill enough to convey the whole laid back button down shirt thing. You know that's a fine line to walk.

I am giddy with excitement to wear this shirt in warmer weather. My next planned ensembles include knotting this skirt over a maxi skirt and pairing it with printed shorts. The only con: because of the crazy soft material, this shirt does wrinkle rather easily (especially in the arms). But we're not exactly trying to be Brooks Brothers here, so calm down girlfriend. Just RELAX, HCG.
