Morning Zen

zenHCG is far from "zen". I'm naturally pretty high energy, and my day job is rather intense. But like many people who wish they were more low key, I am working on becoming more calm and peaceful. This new effort is a daily struggle. I don't drink coffee and have long wanted to be someone who drinks tea despite not really liking tea or seeing the point of drinking it. Part of my desire to drink tea comes from feeling left out when someone asks me to grab coffee and the season doesn't allow me to get hot chocolate. After reading about the benefits of drinking green tea, I decided the time had come for me to give green tea a shot. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants and has been linked to reduced cholesterol and risks for heart attacks and strokes and the promotion of weight loss. I don't want to have a heart attack or stroke, and I want to be skinny. Pour me some green tea!

After sampling a few basic green teas, I found this Tazo Zen Green Tea, and I am now officially on the green tea bandwagon. Tazo Zen Green Tea is light and delicious - especially when you squeeze a healthy dose of fresh lemon juice into it. The blend of lemongrass and spearmint makes for a refreshing, soothing drink that helps me to stay full after my breakfast of tea and cinnamon blueberry quinoa. When I arrive at work each morning, I drink a cup of Tazo Zen while browsing celebrity websites diligently replying to e-mails I received the night before. In those moments I pretend I am someone who lets the little things slide and who remains calm in stressful situations. After I rinse out my mug, I return to my office where I usually start yelling obscenities at my computer and slamming the receiver of my phone onto my desk a few times.

You see now why I need this tea.
