September 5, 2012 marks the second greatest day in Here Comes Gina history. Today I am attending my second Lucky magazine Fashion and Beauty Blogger (FABB) conference in New York.
FABB 2011 was a momentous day for me last year. I met DVF, Rachel Roy and Coco Rocha, soaked up the wisdom from countless contributors to the FABB panels (including the Kardashians), graciously accepted gifts from brands and experienced the sheer euphoria that comes from being a room with 200+ like-minded bloggers. It was exhilarating.
This year my expectations for FABB are predictably high. On the FABB 2012 agenda: keynote speakers (are they not called "keynote speakers" at a blog conference like they are at a graduation or political convention?) Rachel Zoe and Lauren Conrad and panelists Anna Sui, Erica Domesek of P.S.-I made this... and Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller, among others. Just like last year, I'm hauling back the gift bag to give away to one lucky HCG reader. And I won't even charge you shipping.
Behind the scenes, I'm doing things a little differently for FABB 2012. Last year I took the train from Philly in the morning and returned late that night. This year, I'm bunking over in NYC courtesy of the Westin Times Square (not true. I paid full price for two nights here. But the front desk promised to comp my Wi Fi charges). Like last year, my outfit will incorporate a decent amount of J. Crew, but I'm too big now to do my own hair: I've got a 7 AM blowout booked at Dry Bar. The biggest game changer this year: my friend Dana (DQ) is attending FABB along with me, and her presence is surely to make my FABB experience even more awesome than when I nervously attended alone last year. DQ's parents drove us to the train last night from her childhood home in NJ and even gave me special birthday cupcakes and mini bottles of Pinot Grigio. You don't get more big time than that.
I haven't totally figured out how to post to the HCG Facebook page from my phone, but I will be updating as frequently as possible via Twitter and Instagram if you'd like to follow along. This is one of the biggest days in the history of the Internet, so you really don't want to miss out.
Much love from NY, HCG
